Live at Warrawee – Oakleigh 2026
Warrawee Park will once again come alive this summer as Oakleigh hosts an afternoon and evening dedicated to community, music and relaxed outdoor entertainment. Taking place on Saturday 14 February 2026 from 4pm until 8pm, the free ticketed event invites locals and visitors to unwind on the grass and enjoy a lively program of performances in a welcoming, family-friendly setting.
The 2026 concert features an energetic line-up of Melbourne talent, headlined by the much-loved collective JAZZPARTY. They’ll be joined by soul favourite Kylie Auldist, blues-rock outfit Smoke Stack Rhino, the vibrant Seduceaphones, and the Estudiantina of Melbourne ensemble bringing traditional Greek sounds to the stage — a nod to the rich cultural character of Oakleigh itself.
Guests are encouraged to bring picnic rugs, folding chairs and their favourite snacks and non-glass refreshments to settle in for the afternoon. For those wanting something more, nearby Eaton Mall offers a wide range of dining options, and a small selection of food vendors will also be operating close to the park.
Whether you come for the music, the atmosphere or simply a relaxed summer evening outdoors, Live at Warrawee is set to be one of Oakleigh’s standout community gatherings of the season.
Repair Café – Glen Waverley
Residents of Glen Waverley are invited to take part in a community Repair Café on Sunday 22 February 2026, running from 10am to 1pm at Mount Street Neighbourhood House, 6 Mount Street.
This free event focuses on helping locals keep their belongings in use for longer rather than throwing them away.
At the session, skilled volunteers will examine household items and attempt basic repairs while also showing visitors how the fixes are carried out.
The aim is not only to restore well-loved possessions, but to share practical knowledge and reduce unnecessary waste by preventing items from ending up in landfill. It’s also an opportunity for neighbours to meet and work together in a relaxed, hands-on environment.
All repairs must be booked in advance, as walk-ins are not accepted and time with each item is limited. Some specialised jobs are outside the scope of the event, including jewellery, furniture restoration, televisions, sewing machines and certain electronic devices. Textile assistance is limited to repairs rather than alterations, and bicycle help does not include replacement parts.
Registrations close on 18 February 2026, so attendees are encouraged to secure a place early to have their item assessed and, where possible, given a new lease of life.
Microbats in Monash
Curious about the tiny nocturnal creatures living around your suburb? A free educational talk on local microbats will be held on Tuesday 24 February 2026 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Mount Waverley Community Centre, 47 Miller Crescent, Mount Waverley.
Many residents don’t realise several species of microbats quietly inhabit the Monash area. Because they are active after dark and fly almost silently, they often go unnoticed. Despite their small size, these animals play a valuable environmental role by feeding on flying insects, including mosquitoes and pests that can harm backyard gardens.
The session will be presented by the Deakin University Bat Research Team, featuring Dr Kaori Yokochi, Lecturer in Ecology and Conservation Biology. Attendees will learn about the different local species, their diet, habitat needs and simple ways households can help protect them.
The presentation will also cover current scientific findings, including how artificial lighting affects bat behaviour, along with upcoming research projects being conducted by the university team.
This free ticketed event is open to anyone interested in local wildlife and conservation, offering a chance to better understand and support these often-overlooked nighttime neighbours.
Fire and home safety session with Fire Rescue Victoria
Residents are invited to attend a free community safety workshop hosted by Fire Rescue Victoria on Wednesday 18 February 2026, running from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the Meeting Room at Glen Waverley Library, 112 Kingsway, Glen Waverley.
Bookings are required to participate.
Presented by local firefighters, the session focuses on practical steps households can take to improve safety and be better prepared for emergencies. Attendees will learn how to respond if a fire occurs and discover straightforward precautions that can significantly reduce risks inside the home.
